Overview

This course of reptile anaesthesia and analgesia, radiography, ultrasonography, surgery and diagnostic endoscopy, which is held in Avian and Exotic Animal Clinic Brno, is an intensive training program for those veterinarians who wish to broaden their knowledge of advanced medicine and surgery of reptiles. The morning sessions include presentations based on special clinical cases. After presentations the participants split into small groups supervised with the course masters and lecturers for the practical training.

Learning outcomes:

The course is designed to give the veterinary practitioner excellent practical skills and knowledge of the most important modern methods of reptile anaesthesia and analgesia, radiography and ultrasonography, soft tissue surgery and orthopaedic surgery, and diagnostic endoscopy, used in clinical practice with reptiles.

Topics

Imaging techniques: radiography, ultrasonography
Anaesthesia and analgesia: sedation; short term anaesthesia; anaesthesia for endoscopy and surgery; advanced protocols for anaesthesia of different groups of reptiles
Surgery: soft tissue surgery; orthopaedic surgery
Endoscopy: advanced methods of diagnostic endoscopy in reptiles (tracheoscopy and pulmonoscopy, gastroscopy, cloacoscopy and cystoscopy.
