Management success in “Dermatology”
(Case oriented approach)
In the 5 sessions of our online series, we will present a great number of Dermatology clinical cases, which will allow you to take back the experience and knowledge shared by our Program Director: Prof. Dr. Lluis Ferrer into your daily practice.
The Full series consists of 5 online case discussion sessions, each 90-120 min long in which several problems will be interactively discussed in a live format. You will receive reading material prior to the beginning of each session. An open forum will be set up for any questions and discussion for 1 week after each session and a „take home“ guide will be shared with you on our platform. The number of participants is limited in order to provide optimal interaction.

Session 1

27 October 2022

online
EUR 65,00

Overview

Managing challenging cases of pruritus in dogs and cats.

Severe chronic pruritus has an enormous effect on the quality of life of the patient and their caregivers. Although new drugs have been developed in recent years, treatment-refractory pruritus is not uncommon. In this seminar, we will analyze several cases of severe pruritus in dogs and cats that do not respond to treatment and discuss the best strategies to control them.

Learning outcomes

After the seminar, the participant will be able to develop different therapeutic strategies to treat a dog or cat with chronic pruritus refractory to usual treatments.

Overview

The many faces of skin depigmentation.

Cutaneous depigmentation (leukoderma, leukotrichia, poliosis,…) is a common problem in canine dermatology. Sometimes it is mainly a cosmetic problem (e.g. “idiopathic nasal depigmentation”, vitiligo), while sometimes it is the first sign of a serious condition (e.g. uveo-dermatologic syndrome). In this session, we will analyze some cases of cutaneous depigmentation of different origins and discuss their diagnosis and treatment.

Learning outcomes

After the seminar, the participant will have a detailed knowledge of the different mechanisms that cause skin depigmentation and will be abler to design an adequate diagnostic protocol for patients presenting with a cutaneous depigmentation problem.

Session 3

23 February 2023
19.00
online
EUR 65,00

Overview

Footpad lesions in the dog: a diagnostic challenge.

Footpad lesions are a real diagnostic challenge for the clinician. Sometimes they are relatively simple presentations, such as the corns seen in greyhounds or the viral papillomas. However, sometimes they are more serious problems such as the inflammatory lesions seen in many cases of pemphigus foliaceus or the ulcerative lesions observed in most cases of superficial necrolytic dermatitis. In this session, we will review the main diseases affecting the dog’s footpad, their diagnosis, and treatment.

Learning outcomes

After the seminar the participant will be able to approach a canine patient with lesions on one or more footpads, design an adequate diagnostic protocol, reach a diagnosis, and decide the best treatment for the patient.
